Kim Jong-un promises to support Russia unconditionally

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un promised unconditional support for Russia’s position in relation to Ukraine and other international issues, state-owned KCNA media said. He met with Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu, on Wednesday (4).

“Kim Jong Un stated that the Government of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea will also support unconditionally, in the future, the position of Russia and its foreign policy,” the report said.

North Korea will responsibly observe the treaty’s articles between the two countries, Kim said, according to the agency.

The two also discussed the strengthening of the comprehensive strategic partnership and mutual cooperation in different areas.

The pact is the most significant agreement signed by Russia and North Korea in decades and is seen as a kind of rebirth of the promise of mutual defense of the 1961 Cold War era.

It also consolidates the world power that has a veto power on the UN Security Council.
