The president of European Central Bank, Christine Lagarde, said on Thursday (5) that he is determined to complete his mandate in the BCEafter speculation that she could leave early to take a leadership function in the world economic forum.

“I can say very firmly that I have always been, and I am, totally determined to fulfill my mission and I am determined to complete my mandate,” Lagarde said at his regular press conference after the ECB monetary policy decision.

Financial Times recently reported that former World Economic Forum leader Klaus Schwab said he had met Lagarde to discuss the possibility of leaving the ECB early to lead the Swiss-based organization, better known for his winter conference in Davos.

A PCI spokesman said at the time that Lagarde was determined to complete his eight-year presidential term, which ends at the end of October 2027.

Schwab resigned immediately in April and the forum said he had started an investigation into his business after a letter of complaint alleging misconduct. Schwab denies the allegations.
