The president of France, Emmanuel Macron, said on Thursday, 5, that the tribute that Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva will have at the French Academy-equivalent to the Brazilian Academy of Letters-is a “rare privilege” and “shows respect and admiration” by the petista. He also said that “Brazil is at home in France.”
“I am really proud that Lula will be welcomed under the summit of the French Academy to be able to express himself. It is a rare privilege and this shows the respect and admiration that our immortals have for the Lord,” he said.
Lula will be the second Brazilian to receive the tribute. Before him, only Dom Pedro II was awarded. Since the founding of the academy in the seventeenth century, 19 heads of state have been honored.

Macron also said that France and Brazil share “the same view of forests and this fight against climate change and for biodiversity” for having territories in the Amazon (France controls French Guiana).
“We share the same open world view that respects climate and commerce,” said the French President, who also said that he will organize, just before COP30, a meeting in Bahia with African countries.
Macron also said that the two countries, through the border through French Guiana, have “partnership for monitoring to fight illegal mining.”

“We celebrate detainees transfer agreement, long awaited by Amapá, Amazonas and Guyana,” he said.
The French president also said that Brazil and France share “the same open worldview that respects climate and commerce.” He stressed what he called the “strategic and balanced partnership” that the two countries have.
“This balanced strategy partnership we have also corresponds to the intensity of our human relations. On my visit last year, I could visit the Pasteur Institute, one of the most beautiful examples of scientific cooperation and now we have a vaccine production project that corresponds perfectly to the Sanitary Sovereignty,” he said.

Macron also talked about announcements that will be made in Nice, where the France-Brazil Economic Forum and the UN Oceans Conference will be held.
“The ads we will make in Nice will allow us to give more content to this relationship of air, sea and terrestrial transportation, renewable, nuclear energy, critical ores. There are many projects in which we are advancing,” he said.
