Orbán criticizes the accelerated accession of Ukraine to the EU as a threat to the national sovereignty and economic stability of Europe.
The accelerated accession of Ukraine into the European Union has no support for the majority of European citizens and Brussels would subordinate the functioning of the Union of War. According to MTI, the chairman of the Hungarian government Viktor Orbán spoke about this on Thursday at the plenary meeting of the Hungarian deputies of the Carpathian Basin (KMKF), also members of which are Hungarian deputies from Slovakia, reports TASR newsletter in Budapest.
“Provoyant policy imposes on Europe heavy economic burdens, undermines national sovereignty and threatens the original values of the Union. The EU is increasingly deviating from the road by which Member States have once married together,” said Orbán.
Brussels and war logic
Brussels does not push the continent to peace, but to war and enforce decisions that undermine national sovereignty, threaten the economic future of Europe and could have serious consequences for Hungary, the Prime Minister said. He added that most Europeans do not support the accelerated accession of Ukraine to the EU, both financially or politically.
In his speech, Orbán called the Carpathian basin to the historical and spiritual home of the Hungarians and stressed that the unity of the nation is more important than the state borders. According to him, the war not only increased the energy prices and the cost of everyday life, but also causes the economic cooperation of Hungarian communities. “The investments that are postponed for war policy weaken the future of all Hungarians,” he said.
Kmkf and his role
KMKF is a forum of deputies of the Hungarian Parliament, Hungarian deputies in the European Parliament, as well as deputies of parliaments of Hungarian nationality and local governments from countries neighboring Hungary, including Slovakia. The Forum was founded in December 2004; MEPs meet once a year.
