The United States Supreme Court has failed this Thursday in favor of a 60 -year -old woman, named Marlean Ames, who denounced that she felt discriminated against in her work environment in favor of two homosexual people, according to the newspaper ‘El País’, which will facilitate the demands for discrimination presented by the members of the majority groups, such as heterosexuals or whites.
In this way, the judges have unanimously annulled the regulations used in almost half of the federal circuits of the country, which demanded that white people, men or heterosexual comply with a higher standard compared to those individuals who had traditionally faced any type of discrimination.
According to the sentence, drafted by the progressive policy Kentanji Brown-Jackson, the law prohibits decriminalization against any person, without any distinction. Therefore, “when establishing the same protections for all ‘individuals’, without taking into account their belonging to a minority or majority group, Congress did not leave margin so that the courts imposed special requirements only to the plaintiffs belonging to the majority group.”
