US President Donald Trump is losing patience with Elon Musk after the billionaire attacked the extensive tax and spending bill of Republicans. Musk would also have been annoyed by Trump’s decision to remove an important ally to lead the National Aeronautics and Space (NASA) administration.
A senior White House authority said the president was not happy with Musk’s decision to criticize his legislation, describing Trump as “confused” why Tesla’s chief executive decided to increase his criticism after working so closely with the government for four months. The authority stated that Trump’s senior counselors were taken by surprise by the billionaire’s last offensive.
The difficult alliance between the two men was also harmed by a recent White House action, who rejected Trump’s nominee to direct NASA, Jared Isaacman, according to people familiar with the matter. Musk, an ally near Isaacman, had argued that he would be with the position.

The decision enraged the owner of Tesla, who over the weekend complained to his associates that he had donated hundreds of millions of dollars to help elect the Republican last year just to see Isaacman’s nomination canceled, a person with direct knowledge of the matter said. Musk’s frustration with NASA’s episode made him more willing to aggressively criticize the tax law, sources alleged nearby.
In a series of social media publications this week, the billionaire called the tax law “disgusting abomination”.
It is not today that he has been showing frustrations with the fiscal bill, raising concerns about the provisions of the legislation that revoke tax credits for electric vehicles, according to sources. Tesla is one of the largest electric car manufacturers in the world. He is also the founder of Spacex, who has government contracts with NASA.
