Since the first case confirmed in commercial birds, on May 16, 35% of the investigations were about wild birds
At 13h of this Thursday (5.Jun.2025), the number of cases under investigation for aviary flu in Brazil. There are 12 suspected cases of the disease. There are investigations in progress in Amapá, Pará, Amazonas, Bahia, Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo and Rio Grande do Sul.
On Wednesday (4.JUN.2025), the Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, (PSD), said that Brazil is part of the wild bird migratory route, so suspicions in wild birds in the country are common.
“We are on the route of these often contaminated animals, so it is common and constant that suspicions arise in wildlife. What matters is that no more commercial farm has been affected with the disease,” stated.

The confirmation of the case in Rio Grande do Sul led 42 markets to suspend the importation of Brazilian chicken meat at some level:
- 21 markets with total suspension of poultry exports in Brazil -China, European Union, Mexico, Iraq, South Korea, Chile, Philippines, South Africa, Peru, Albania, Canada, Dominican Republic, Uruguay, Malaysia, Argentina, Timor-Leste, Morocco, India, Sri Lanka, North Macedonia and Pakistan;
- 17 markets with suspension restricted to the state of Rio Grande do Sul – Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, United Kingdom, Russia, Belarus, Armenia, Quirgistan, Angola, Turkey, Bahrain, Cuba, Montenegro, Namibia, Kazakhstan, Bosnia and Herzegovine, Tajiquistan and Ukraine;
- 4 markets with suspension limited to the municipality of Montenegro (RS) – United Arab Emirates, Japan, Qatar and Jordan.
