Rhododendrons go over and fall? Be sure to do this one thing and will bloom twice the next season

faded? You have to start working. After an intensive flowering period, plants need our intervention. If we skip an important procedure, rhododendrons may not have new buds next season.

Rhododendrons need this procedure after flowering

Rhododendrons need a strengthening after flowering. After an intensive flowering time, rhododendrons need potassium and phosphorus. In garden stores there are appropriate preparations for summer and autumn fertilization. You can also prepare a home -made banana preparation. Just cut a very ripe banana (with skin) into smaller pieces, transfer to a jar and pour hot water. Drain after 48 hours. It is worth watering the flowers twice a month with such a home fertilizer. It works for both pot and garden receipts. The bananas that have been made after the fertilizer can be even more crushed and mixed with water. Such a mixture will be a great conditioner for vegetables in the garden. However, before we take on fertilization, we must perform the removal of faded flowers. This is the most important action if we want rhododendrons to bloom in the next season. When the plants finish the flowering period, we break down faded inflorescences. Thanks to this, fruit and seeds will not be created, and nutrients taken from the soil will mobilize the plant to grow and produce new shoots. During this procedure, it is also worth removing dry branches. In summer and autumn, if it is drought, you must not forget about moderate watering. However, be careful not to pour the plant. This may result in fungal diseases.

Wintering of rhododendrons

The basic principles of wintering rhododendrons work for frost -resistant varieties. The most harmful for these plants is drought, so under the litter it is worth spreading the biovłkunin, and the roots of the bush to put the mound from the bark. In the case of varieties less resistant to low temperatures, agrotextile can be imposed on the bush. You can also use protection against drying frosty wind and cover the plants with a special screen or hood available in garden stores. We start mulching rhododendrons in autumn, in winter you can supplement deficiencies. When it comes to covering plants, it is best to do it at longer low temperatures. Most of the rhododendrons available on the market are temperature resistant to -25 or even -30 degrees Celsius.
