Acreans dispute title “CWC of the Americas” of Capoeira, in the city of Juliaca, Peru

Acreian capoeirists Matheus Mendes Amorim, popularly known as “Amorim”, Anderson Galvão da Silva, the “monk”, and Wendel Pedro da Silva, “Acai”, arrived on Wednesday afternoon (4) at the city of Juliaca, Peru.

They left Acre to participate in a stage of the Capoeira World Championship, the “CWC of the Americas”, a competition that runs through several continents. This time, the tournament will be headquartered in Juliaca, one of the most important cities of the Peruvian Altiplano.

The competition is open and brings together capoeiristas from different groups spread around the world. The winning athlete, in addition to receiving a dollar awards, wins a symbolic belt. At the end of the world circuit, the champions of each continent face each other in the dispute for the global title.

The young capoeirista Acreanian Alisson Felipe Ambrósio da Silva, known in the middle as “Rato Instructor”, won the edition of the CWC World Championship held in the city of BRno, in Republic Czech, on November 23rd.

Born in the municipality of Rodrigues Alves, in the region of Juruá, instructor Rato left his homeland in 2013 to train with the then Master student in Rio Branco, in the Baixada da Sobral region.

Of humble origin, Alisson began to practice capoeira through social projects promoted by the Axé Capoeira group, national and international reference in the sport.

With the conquest of a rat instructor, Acre already has a CWC belt – and can win the second this weekend, with the three representatives who will compete in the competition in Juliaca. It is noteworthy that, so far, no other Brazilian athlete, besides being a rat instructor, has won this title.

The Capoeira Warriors Challenge (CWC) event – which, in Portuguese, means “challenge of capoeirista warriors” – will be held this Sunday (8), at 10am (Acre time), with live broadcast on the official channel of the organization.
