Adaptation of “Geni and The Zeplelin”, by Chico Buarque, wins unpublished video

With the choice of Ayla Gabriela For the main role, Paris Filmes revealed a Unpublished video of “Geni and Zepelim”which shows actress characterized as her character.

First feature, the plot revolves around a prostitute hated by the local society of her riverside community, which sees her city being invaded by troops led by a tyrant, known as the commander, who flying in an imposing Zeplelin.

The production of “Geni and Zepelim” has been featured in recent months after controversy involving transphobia. Ayla’s choice for paper occurred after the actress’s departure Thainá Duarte of production.

The film’s director, Anna Muylaert, announced the cast change after receiving comments accusing the movie “transfake”– Term that refers to the practice of cis actors interpreting trans roles.

“I heard a lot of voices and I could understand the dimension of the importance of this character to the trans community. Making this story with a cis woman was a mistake, a mistake. I want to apologize to all the people who felt erased because of this idea. I had a wrong view. Let’s change the course of things, let’s change the character and adapt the script,” Muylaert said by announcing the output of Thainá.

Since the announcement of the production of the film and the cast, many people on the networks have accused transphobia production by climbing a cis actress for Geni’s role. Created by Chico Buarque for the show “Opera do Malandro”, Geni’s character in the original play represents a transvestite from Rio de Janeiro who lives on prostitution and suffers from prejudice.

“Geni and Zepelim” debuts in national theaters in 2026.
