Did you waste another orchid? This guide is for you. Use these rules and you will become the queen of the orchid

When they bloom, they look stunning. However, these flowers are very delicate and require a lot of attention. Fortunately, the care rules are not very complicated. Pay attention to the discoloration of orchids, inhibited growth as well as pests and diseases that can attack flowers. When the orchids are wrong, they stop blooming, strange discoloration appears on the leaves and miserable in the eyes. That is why it is important to act quickly. If you want orchids to bloom beautifully, pay attention to the signals that send flowers. To ensure the health and longevity of the orchid, pay attention to these three key indicators.

Why are the orchid leaves yellow? Pay attention to the light

Orchid leaves can be a valuable clue about the overall health of the flowers. If you notice significant changes in the color of the leaves, it is a sign that something is happening with the orchid. Yellowing or browning of leaves may indicate a deficiency of nutrients, pouring or exposure to direct sunlight. On the other hand, too dark green leaves may suggest insufficient lighting. Therefore, look at the flowers and adapt the pots to the appropriate light exposure. The orchid is very demanding when it comes to watering. For flowers to bloom, you have to do it skillfully. Because orchids are very vulnerable to root rot, the orchid must be able to collect water from the air. Set the dish with water behind the pot – the plant will take as much water as it will need at a given moment. With direct watering, remember to avoid completely immersing the roots in the water. Fertilization is another important thing when careing for orchids. Sometimes the flowers do not bloom through a poorly selected conditioner. Orchids are best fertilized with specialized preparations that need to be diluted with water. It is important to apply the right amount of preparation. If it is not enough, the orchid will not bloom, too much – it will only cause root growth. Orchids should be fertilized twice a month. In winter, stop fertilizing at all.

The orchid does not bloom and does not grow? Pay attention to the roots

Orchids grow lush and bloom like crazy when they have favorable conditions. If you notice inhibition or distorted growth of orchids, this is a clear tip that something is wrong. This may be manifested by a lack of new growth, smaller than usual flowers or deformed leaves. One of the frequent causes of growth inhibition is a problem with roots, such as rot or damage to the roots. Excessive watering, poor drainage or pests can contribute to root problems. Carefully assess the root system and if necessary, overdo the plant into the appropriate substrate.

Orchids do not bloom because insects attacked them

Unfortunately, orchids are not resistant to pests and diseases, and if we do not react in time, parasites can lead to the death of the plant. Typical pests on orchids are aphids, wools, and spider mites. These small insects feed on leaves, stems or roots and slowly finish the flower. Just like fungal or bacterial infections. Therefore, regularly check the orchid for any signs of pests or diseases, such as visible insects or sticky residues (in the case of woolbacks), mold or black spots on the leaves. If you detect, take immediate action by using appropriate insecticides or fungicides, observing the instructions on the packaging of ready preparations.

Homemade conditioner that will stimulate the orchids to flowering

The best home way to flowering orchids is very often the simplest. If for some reason the plant does not bloom, it is worth making small changes, and the easiest way to start with watering. Adding a few drops of lemon juice to the water change its reaction to sour, and many species of orchids feel great in such an environment. Thanks to this, it releases new flower buds. Bathing with the addition of a few drops of lemon juice is one of the ways to water the orchid. Plant (in the casing), place in a sheath in a dish with soft water mixed with lemon juice and leave it to 15-30. Then we no longer have to water the orchid. Such a procedure is best performed once a month.
