TCU minister says economic adjustments for revenue have already “crossed the point” and that tax benefits are less transparent to encourage the economy
The Minister of the Federal Court of Auditors, Bruno Dantas, said on Friday (6.Jun.2025) that the tax framework created by the president’s government (PT) to replace the spending ceiling that had been instituted by the Government of (MDB) “It’s good, but very complex”.
“The spending ceiling was advantageous, it was only a line. The tax framework is so complex that it allows these tax spells, so we don’t call pedaling or creative accounting”.he said. He made the statement during the 4th Sphere Forum, an event held by Sphere Brazil in Guarujá (SP).
Dantas stated that the need to make revenue adjustments “It’s over the point”.
“The proof is the reaction that society, the productive sector had this attempt to increase IOF [Imposto sobre Operações Financeiras]. People don’t shout at the intensity they screamed if it wasn’t squeezing so much. [Fernando] Haddad [ministro da Fazenda] Since the beginning of the government has submitted a series of proposals to recompose the tax base, it can already have a record revenue ”he declared.
The court minister charged that the government look at solutions also on the expense side. “One of the things that TCU shows in its reports is that this is the least transparent way of encouraging sectors of the economy,” he said. Criticized the lack of transparency with the IRS. “We have had some rabids. They hide from TCU the real numbers [de benefícios tributários]”these.
For Bruno Dantas, the government needs to include priority projects “No Topo” budget and not “Find Jeitinhos” to escape the tax framework. He quoted. “Government is to establish priorities and make choices”these.
