High Tatras: For the remediation of the slope above the hiking trail from Hrebienka to Rainer’s cottage in the High Tatras, the contractor still does not have a valid building permit. The report of the Tatra National Park (TANAP) informed about it after there was another landslide in the location in the site after the storms and the necessary part had to be closed by a sidewalk from Bilík’s cottage towards the Waterfalls of Studený stream serving as a detour. Part of the red -marked Tatra Highway is closed for more than 1.5 years.
Minister of the Interior of the Slovak Republic Matúš Šutaj Eštok (voice-SD) pointed out that this is a long period and plans to negotiate with the Minister of the Environment Tomáš Tarab (SNS nominee) in this respect, as the closure complicates the interventions of the Mountain Rescue Service (HZS). TANAP reports that they would not do anything on the spot during this period. For now, however, it is not known when the landslide remediation will start, or how much it will cost.
Repair was not easy
“As soon as the first landslide occurred, the status of the hiking trail was assessed by experts and then the administrator declared a public procurement to the project documentation contractor. Terrain, where the problem is to get heavy mechanisms, ”said the TANAP report, noted that this is not a classic road or a pavement where it is enough to use the displacement.
The whole slope is slid, and the rocks fall from above, so the conditions change continuously. “Despite the fact that the project documentation is finished, its contractor still does not have a building permit in his hands. He adds that obtaining statements and opinions from other state administration bodies is particularly demanding and time -consuming and must comply with legal deadlines.
The problem would also hit the second pavement
This week’s inspection of the place where there was another landslide showed that the released part of the pavement can also affect the neighboring green -marked hiking route. The TANAP Administration has therefore carried out security work to prevent a possible threat to tourists. “Given that there has been another landslide on this route in recent days, it is not possible to set a preliminary deadline or the cost of remediation of this section at the moment,” added Martina Petránová from TANAP report for TASR.
Šutaj Eštok during Thursday (5 6th) of the Tatras, he announced that he would communicate with Tarab. “A year and seven months is a long time for nothing to deal with in the matter. I do not want to injure any officials from the Ministry of the Environment, but I will certainly contact Mr. Tarab to find some options that will contribute to improving the situation,” the minister said. Sloping slope and damage to the pavement occurred in November 2023.
