FIFA (International Football Federation) announced on Friday (6) technological news for the Club World Cup, which starts on the 14th in the United States. The main one will be focused on the referees, who will use body cameras during matches.

The images will be displayed live to fans by broadcasters of transmission rights. The idea is to offer a new experience during the games.

The entity will also adopt a practice that was being used in some national competitions, by showing on the stadium screen the images presented to the referee through the VAR cabin as the judge of a match is to review a bid in the video.

Also present in some tournaments, the semi -automatic impediment will be used in the World Cup. A chip on the ball, properly positioned cameras and the use of artificial intelligence will help referees check impediment throws throughout the games.

During matches, technical committees will no longer use the traditional role to signal a replacement for the fourth referee. Now each team will receive a tablet, with which you will make the replacement request, indicating who will enter and who will leave.

“FIFA is proud of its history of innovation in its elite tournaments, and the Club World Cup will continue this trend. With the best teams in the world competing for the title, it makes sense that these revolutionary innovations are displayed in such a prestigious tournament,” explained the entity’s secretary general Mattias Grafström.
