Novak Djokovic has not yet decided whether the defeat in the French Open semifinal to the world’s number 1, Jannik Sinner, was his last match at Roland Garros. The statement was made by the Serbian tennis player, owner of 24 Grand Slam titles, this Friday (6).

Three -time French tournament, Djokovic lost in direct sets after wasting three set points on the third set.

“It may have been my last match here. I don’t know,” Djokovic said at a news conference after the setback 6-4, 7-5 and 7-6 (3). “That’s why I was a little more emotional in the end.”

“But if this was really my farewell in, it was wonderful, by the atmosphere and the public response.”

At 38, the Serb left the Quadra Philippe Chatrier under applause standing and touched the clay before waving to the fans as a sign of thanks.

Djokovic said he plans to play Wimbledon later this month and the US Open, which starts in August – with a focus totally focused on Grand Slam tournaments.

However, he avoided making any commitment beyond these two competitions.

“Right now, I want to go with the plan I have, which is to play the Grand Slams. These tournaments are a priority in my calendar,” he said.

“Wimbledon and US Open are on the plans, for sure. As for the rest, I don’t know for sure.”

“I don’t know what tomorrow reserves at this point in my career,” he said, who was looking for the record of 25 Grand Slam titles in Paris. He is tied with Australian Margaret Court, who also has 24 achievements.

“Now comes Wimbledon, which is the tournament of my childhood, my favorite. Maybe where I have the most chances of winning another Slam – or on quick blocks, as in Australia,” he said.

“Twelve months, at this stage of my career, represent a long time. I want to keep playing? Yes. But I’ll be in a position to go back to a year from now? I don’t know. That’s just what I can say for now.”

Djokovic last won the last 2023.
