The outage affects all links, even those that go through Russia and China. It shouldn’t be a precise attack.

In North Korea, they recorded an extensive internet outage on Saturday, said Junade Ali, an expert in computers from Britain. In his words, this is an internal problem rather than a cyber attack, TASR reports based on Reuters report.

The main news website of the DPRK and the North Korean Foreign Ministry website was unavailable on Saturday morning, Reuters says.

“There is a major failure of the North Korean Internet, which affects all connections, regardless of whether they come through China or Russia,” said Junade Ali, who monitors the Internet in the DPRK. According to Ali, the whole North Korean Internet infrastructure did not appear in monitoring systems. “It is hard to say whether it is an intention or coincidence, but it seems to be an internal problem rather than an attack,” the expert explained.

So far, Reuters has not been able to obtain a statement from the South Korean Police Center for reaction to cyber terrorism, monitoring cyber activities of the neighboring DPRK.
