It is one of the bathing destinations that have the most attention has generated in recent years, standing out for the size of the sand, the characteristics of the surrounding landscape and the variety of services available. The space has recorded a significant evolution in both environmental and tourist terms, being often pointed out as one of the most “interesting” in the country, recognition underlined by Radio Miróbriga.
Known as Praia da Rocha, it is an extensive coastal track whose identity is strongly marked by rock formations that dominate the landscape. Located in the municipality of Portimão, it became a reference point in tourism in the southern region.

Urban Development and Tourism Offer
Urban growth was intensified from the 1980s and 1990s, with the construction of hotels, residential buildings and support infrastructures of the bathing season. Currently, Marginal Avenue concentrates much of the tourist offer, including restoration, commerce and night entertainment.
During the summer, the wooden walkway by the beach facilitates access to the sand and is often used for walks, light meals or leisure moments overlooking the sea. Outside the high season, the zone maintains some activity, with restaurants and open establishments all year round, supported by a more moderate flow of visitors and residents.
Dynamization and events
The Três Castles viewpoint, situated at one end of the beach, offers a panoramic view of the sand and the surrounding geological structures. It is one of the most sought after observation points, especially at the end of the day.
Praia da Rocha has also hosted international events, such as beach soccer tournaments, which attract participants and supporters from various countries.
These initiatives contribute to the promotion of the local economy and reinforce the visibility of the region in the international tourist context.
