With the media around the world, toxic “divorce” and Donald, the activity of the president at foreign policy level And these days, it was marginally unnoticed despite the fact that it had three extremely important contacts.
The diplomatic “Blitzkrieg” of the White House tenant, with which he was trying to declare – but without a special success – on all the big open fronts (some of which he opened) of international politics, included the phone call with Russian President President of China Xi Jing.
Based on what has been known about the US president’s contacts with the aforementioned leaders, Trump discussed issues related to the war in Ukraine, Iran, world trade, duties and … landing in Normandy. The results of the contacts, of course, in addition to some of the US President’s posts on social media accounts and especially on Truth Social, are at least controversial as to the extent that Trump has managed to “impose” his government’s agenda on his interlocutors.
They are so controversial that one could say that one confirms that the ‘Taco’ policy (trump always chickens out which means ‘Trump always makes the hen’), the caustic acronym that has been circulating in recent weeks for the president’s stance on the issue of duties.
Trump represents the adult to Putin
For example, Trump, in his conversation with Vladimir Putin, appeared to accept Russia’s “right” to within the Russian territory that took place the previous days. In addition to being rushed to announce himself in his post, that Putin informed him that Russia would answer, without any objection, Trump during his meeting with Mertz appeared to be sure- in his own way- that the US has no problem.
As the US president typically stated, in the presence of the German Chancellor, in the White House: “Sometimes you see two little kids quarreling like crazy. They hate and quarrel in the park and you are trying to split them. But these do not want to be separated. Sometimes it is best to let them quarrel for a while and then split them. I did this simulation to Putin yesterday. I told him, “President, you may have to continue to quarrel and suffer a lot.” Both sides suffer, before partitions and before they are able to separate. You see it in hockey, you see it in sports. Their referees leave for a few seconds, leave them for a while before they split them up. I don’t like it. I said, “Don’t do it. You must not do it. You have to stop it. ” But again, there is a lot of hatred. ”
Dimitri Peskov responded to these statements, saying: “In this, of course, the US president may have his own view of what is happening. For us, this is an existential issue, it is an issue of our national interests, an issue of our security, our future and our children, the future of our country. “
The realistic Russian game for Iran
As for Iran, the report was made by Donald Trump himself during his telephone conversation with Putin. From what he announced after the phone call, all he got was a general commitment by his Russian counterpart that he could probably intervene himself so that Tehran nuclear weapons would not get.
This narrative apparently suffered a little bit of Moscow (which also secured time after the Trump-Putin phone call in Kiev’s … answers), and Dimitri Peskov hastened to confirm that “President Putin said we were ready to use it to use it to use it. Iran’s subject. ” He added that: “The President could contribute whether this is deemed necessary.”
It is not certain that the US president attended Peskov’s statements, but if he was informed of them he would probably realize that they were particularly “weighed” diplomatically.
To make it better understand what is happening with the issue of Iran between the US and Russia, Tehran days ago to limit uranium enrichment. Shortly afterwards, Russian Foreign Minister Maria Sakharova commented that “we are seriously concerned about increasing tensions around Iran and the risk of slipping into complete conflict.”
At the same time, according to TASS, during a meeting between Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov and Iran’s Ambassador Iran Casem Jalalis, there was a “mutual interest in preventing further tensions, fueled by various speculations about supposedly allegedly related to supposedly.
China “moves the goals”
Apart from the “unbelievable” apparently, regarding who was finally checking the discussion, contact with the Russian president, Trump appeared to be a step further “back” in the telephone conversation with Xi Jing. According to Trump himself for the conversation, the two sides did not raise issues related to either Ukraine or Iran (which may also emphasize the will of the US to somewhat separate the issues they put on the table depending on their interlocutor).
The conversation was mainly concerned, according to both sides of trade issues that divide them, and there were some references to the Taiwan issue. According to what was known, the two sides agreed that it was needed … another round of commercial talks.
This means that by then the “truce” that came after Donald Trump’s retreat and led to the agreement signed in Switzerland – holds. In his statements, Trump said: “We have clarified every complexity, they are very complicated. I think we are in very good shape with China and the trade agreement. “
The US president argued that high -level financial talks with China will soon be launching financial talks with Washington represented by US Finance Minister Scott Besed, Commerce Minister Howard Latnik and US Commercial Representative Jameson.
Among other things, Trump argued that Si invited him to China and that he “repaid”. As he said: “As presidents of two great nations, this is something we are both looking forward to.”
For their part, Chinese media argue that Xi told Trump that China has strictly implemented the Geneva Agreement, but also that the US side should consider the progress that has been made in a realistic manner and withdraw the “negative measures” taken against the country.
“The Chinese people always keep their promises and complete their actions. If consensus has been reached, both sides should adhere to it, “Si told Trump.
The ‘landing’ that made noise no substance
Perhaps the only “contact” of the last days for which President Trump could say that he had the upper hand was with Friedrich Mertz. Of course, according to many analysts, this was also the Chancellor’s strategy to let Trump make his own noisy show, while he silently set the agenda.
Trump really easily pulled the spotlight on him, offering, among other things, the highlight of the discussion with Mertz, which was his reference to D-day, the day of the allies’ landing on the coast of Normandy.
The issue arose when Mertz reminded Trump that on Friday (today) is the 81st anniversary of the Normandy landing, with the US president interrupting him to comment on: “Yes this was not a pleasant day for you.”
Mertz managed to turn the US president’s stiff commentary and to re -put the agenda of the debate, saying: “Long -term, Mr President, this was the liberation of my country from the Nazi dictatorship. We know what we owe you. That is why I say that America is again in a very strong position to end this war (Ukraine). “
The three main issues were the increase in defense spending, duties and Ukraine. As for the latter beyond the comments mentioned above about the “kids arguing” (the second highlight of the meeting given by Trump), the US president argued that both leaders feel that it is “very sad” what is happening in Ukraine, that he is not going to do so.
Trump also said that he believes that Putin wants “all the thing”, referring – probably – to the whole of Ukraine. For his part, Mertz suggested Germany and the US to play a joint role in ending the war. It is well known that the two sides have also discussed the issue of NATO, and there was also an exchange of views on tariffs.
Trump described Mertz as’ good dealer [sic] of Germany “and also” difficult “, which he said is complimentary. The US president argued that US troops would remain in Germany and described the fact that Berlin spends more money on defense.
Concerning duties, the US president stressed: “We will come, I hope, with a trade agreement. I’m okay with the duties, or we make a deal with trade. “
Trump diplomacy and… taco
The above shows that Trump may be the “planet” and everyone treats him as such, but in the end beyond a more general display of power, power and ego, in the end he appears to be unable to manage and get results in critical issues. It remains to be seen whether Taco policy will be a permanent situation for the rest of the Trump Presidency and that will eventually lead.
