The voters of Mongaguá, Panorama and Bocaina, in São Paulo, return to the polls this Sunday (8.jun.2025) to choose mayors and vice mayors in supplementary elections. The new election was called by TRE-SP (Regional Electoral Court of São Paulo) after the rejection of the registration of the candidates elected in 2024.
In the 3 municipalities, the forecast is that 70,000 voters participate in the election. The vote goes from 8am to 5pm. The elected diploma must be held by July 11.
Mongaguá
In Mongaguá, the 189th Electoral Zone, from Itanhaém, is responsible for the organization of the elections, which have 17 voting places and 146 electoral sections.
The new dispute for the city hall of the coast of São Paulo was motivated by the impediment of the elected candidate, Paulo Wiazowski Filho, from the PP, who had the accounts rejected by the City Council in 2012, when he was still mayor.
In May, the TSE (Superior Electoral Court) canceled the registration of Wiazowski’s candidacy and summoned new elections. Since then, the mayor, Luiz Berbiz de Oliveira, from União, commands the municipal administration.
The candidates for Sunday’s election are:
- Cristina Wiazowski, from PP, whose deputy Júlio Cezar de Carvalho Santos, from PDT;
- Rodrigo Cardoso Biagioni, Rodrigo Casa Branca, União Brasil and Renato Carvalho Donato (PSB), who competes for deputy mayor.
Panorama
In Panorama, the 175th Electoral Zone, from Tupi Paulista, is responsible for the election. There are 6 voting places and 39 electoral sections.
The mayor elected in the last election, Edson de Assis Maldonado, of the PP, had the candidacy rejected by TRE-SP due to conviction for the crime of false testimony and the Clean Record Law.
The two plates registered in the dispute are:
- that of Dr. Giulio Pires, from PL, having as vice, Valdez de Brito, from União Brasil;
- that of Daniel Genova, from the PSB, and Inês Francisca da Silva Chiararia, from Republicans, which competes for deputy.
Bocaine
Already in Bocaina, the responsibility for the elections is from the 24th Electoral Zone, two streams, which has 5 polling stations and 31 electoral sections.
Moacir Donizete Gimenez of Republicans was convicted of an act of administrative misconduct with deceit, bad faith, injury to public heritage and illicit enrichment of third parties.
The 4 registered plates are formed by:
- Caio Crepaldi and André de Moraes, both from MDB;
- Jonas Marques and Evandro de França Antunes, from the PDT;
- Camila dos Santos and Marcos Antônio Bodin, from PL;
- Roberto Donizete, from PV, and Marlene Aparecida Meleto Tosi Zanutto, from Republicans.
