A magnitude 6.5 earthquake hit the Bogota region, the capital of Colombia, on Sunday morning (8).
According to the United States Geological Service (USGS), the epicenter of the tremor was located in ParaTebueno, a municipality about 150 kilometers from the Colombian capital.
The depth of the shaking was 10 kilometers, considered low, which can increase the intensity of the phenomenon.

Despite the significant magnitude, so far there are no official reports of material or victims caused by the tremor.
Residents of the capital and nearby regions reported having felt the shake, and images released on social networks show people taking to the streets for security.
Colombia is located in a region of high seismic activity due to the presence of several tectonic plates in South America.
