Vice-president also said that the tax proposals will be presented at meetings scheduled for this weekend and beginning of next week
The Vice President of the Republic said that discussions on measures that can replace the discharge of the financial operations tax (), the central theme of the tax negotiations of the moment, are “well referred”. At a news conference during a visit to Mistercryl in Brasilia, he said the government seeks the balance of public accounts through an open dialogue with Congress. “The solution will come by the ideal method: improve revenue efficiently and reduce expense, improving the efficiency of public spending.”
He stressed that this strategy includes both increased revenue and intelligent expenses, without detailing what specific measures would be adopted. The vice president also highlighted the role of dialogue in conducting negotiations: “I want to highlight proof of maturity, maturity, dialogue is the good way, listening, dialogue and resolving, who listens to the most err.”
Alckmin also said that tax proposals will be presented at meetings scheduled for this weekend and beginning of next week. “We will wait; the discussion will take place this weekend and early in the week,” he said, reinforcing the expectation of advances in the negotiations.
He also stated that “the government’s purpose is to comply with the tax framework, ie zero deficit”, highlighting the importance of this goal to contain inflation and avoid increasing public indebtedness. “This is good policy from an economic point of view, not spending more than it collects.”
