Never mix with this vinegar while washing towels. Instead of soft towels, they will be stiff and less absorbent

Although vinegar can be helpful in many aspects of washing, directly pouring it into the dispenser and mixing it with rinsing liquid while washing towels is definitely inadvisable. Why? Because most of the modern rinsing fluids contain softeners based on silicones or other polymers. Vinegar, being acid, can react with these substances, neutralizing their softening effect. As a result, instead of soft and fluffy towels, you can get rigid and unpleasant to the touch fabric. What’s more, the reaction of vinegar with some ingredients of rinsing fluids can lead to the formation of difficult to remove deposits inside the dispenser and the washing machine itself.

The consequences of pouring the vinegar into the rinsing liquid dispenser can be different. First of all, as already mentioned, your towels can become rough and less absorbent. Prolonged use of this practice can even damage fabric fibers, shortening the life of your favorite bath towels. Secondly, the residues of the chemical reaction can accumulate in the washing machine, especially in hard to reach places of the dispenser and water supply wires. This, in turn, can lead to mold and unpleasant odors, and in a long time even to the washing machine failure. Finally, mixing vinegar with some commercial softeners can cause unpredictable chemical reactions, potentially harmful to fabrics and the device itself.

So what if you want to use when washing towels? The safest solution is to add vinegar directly to the washing machine drum at the beginning of the washing cycle instead of detergent or use it as a separate rinsing cycle before adding a traditional rinsing fluid (if you decide to use it). In this way, vinegar will help remove residues of detergents and minerals from hard water without the risk of a negative reaction with softening substances. However, remember not to overdo the amount of vinegar – usually half a glass for one washing of standard size. If your towels are extremely stiff or have an unpleasant smell, you can soak them in a solution of water with vinegar before proper washing. Avoid how to fire a dispenser for rinsing liquid – this is the worst place for vinegar while taking care of yours
