Miguel Uribe Turbay, senator and candidate for the Presidency, has been the victim of an attack this Saturday afternoon in Bogotá, the Colombian capital. The politician, a member of the Democratic Center Party, attended a campaign political event in the Modelia neighborhood, when he was gunshot wounded, according to local media. A video after the attack shows him unconscious and bleeding from the side of his head, while attendees move him towards an ambulance.
According to the first reports, the senator was greeting people, in El Golfito Park, when they shot him. The escorts reacted immediately and was quickly transferred to a clinic in the capital.
The politician is a member of the opposition Democratic Center, led by former right -wing president Álvaro Uribe, and is also the son of Diana Turbay, a renowned journalist who was kidnapped in 1990 by Pablo Escobar, and subsequently murdered the following year. The senator is also Nieto of former President Julio César Turbay Ayala, who ruled Colombia from 1978 to 1982.
