Moscow informed that it was ready to hand over the bodies and brought them to the agreed place. But then they added that the exchange would probably move.
Russia again accused Ukraine of postponing the planned exchange of bodies of fallen soldiers on Sunday. Moscow first informed that the first batch of 1212 bodies of the fallen Ukrainian soldiers and is waiting for confirmation of the exchange from the Ukrainian party to confirm the batch of Ukrainian. Then she added that the exchange is likely to be postponed next week, TASR writes according to AP and TASS.
General Alexandr Zorin, representing the Russian negotiating party on Sunday, said that Russia brought to the agreed area of the mentioned 1212 bodies, which were identified as Ukrainian soldiers based on their uniform and the area in which they found them. He added that many of them were able to find out their identity.
The train was supposed to go to the border
At the same time, before noon, he informed that the trains with these bodies would go to the Ukrainian border “exactly an hour”. Whether this has happened is not yet known. The Russian and Ukrainian side has – in accordance with the Istanbul agreement – to replace, in addition to hundreds of prisoners of war, each after more than 6,000 bodies of fallen soldiers.
In this context, Zorin said that Russia is ready to keep all these agreements and hand over the fallen soldiers to Ukraine – whether by train or road transport. He added that “this is a humanitarian action”. Russia, however, is still waiting for Kiev’s reaction, but it has indications that such bodies will only occur next week.
Russia has already accused Ukraine on Saturday of unexpectedly postponing the planned exchange indefinitely both the aforementioned bodies of fallen soldiers and hundreds of prisoners of war. Kiev then denied it that he has not yet fixed the date and Moscow for the exchange and accused Moscow of playing “dirty games” in connection with these claims. At the same time, however, he added that the exchange could take place “in the coming days”.
