In tour of Brazil, the artist performs in Brasilia on Saturday night (7.Jun); President will not go, because he is in France
In an X (ex-twitter) publication, the president (PT) said that the art of Gilberto Gil is the soul of Brazil. The artist will perform in Brasilia on Saturday night (7.jun.2025). The petista will not attend, as he is traveling to France.
“Today Brasilia fills with music, poetry and joy with your show. Your art is part of the soul of our country and still thrilling generations. Receive my loving hug and my usual admiration. Good show, my friend – the whole Brazil sings with you!”wrote the petista to Gil.
The presentation is part of the 82 -year -old singer’s “Tempo Rea” tour. He has passed through Rio (RJ) and São Paulo (SP). After Brasilia (DF), goes to Curitiba (PR), Salvador (BA), Porto Alegre (RS), Belém (PA), Fortaleza (CE) and Recife (PE).
This must be the last tour of Gilberto Gil’s career. The singer and composer was Minister of Culture from 2003 to 2008, in the first and 2nd terms of President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT). Among his actions, the reformulation of the Rouanet Culture Incentive Law and the creation of the Culture Viva Program stands out.
Throughout his career, Gil has received several distinctions, including the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres and Légion D’Honneur of the French government, the Grand Cross of the Order of Infante D. Henrique of the Portuguese Government, as well as musical awards and recognitions by UNESCO.
In 2022, he was elected immortal of the Brazilian Academy of Letters. In 2024, he received the title of Doctor Honoris causa from UFRJ (Federal University of Rio de Janeiro).
