Rural producers, technicians, owners, service providers, researchers and others involved with the breeding of animals should immediately notify the suspected cases of the disease to the official veterinary service
The currently investigates ten suspected cases of avian influenza in several states of Brazil, according to the update of the bird and nervous syndrome platform on Sunday (8) at night. None of the case under analysis occurs in commercial farms, involving only domestic creations and wild birds.
In Campinápolis, Mato Grosso, a case of avian flu was confirmed in a domestic chicken – as it is not commercial creation, does not affect Brazilian chicken meat exports or endanger Brazil’s sanitary status with avian flu free. This status can be recovered from June 18, when they are 28 days after the case of Avian flu item in Montenegro (RS) in a commercial farm, and if there are no new cases of the disease in farms.
Investigations ongoing include six cases in domestic birds-Chickens in Itaituba and Parauapegas (PA), Novo Cruzeiro (MG), Alegre (ES), Viamão (RS) and Hunter (SC)-and four in wild birds: a pigeon in Santo Antônio do Monte (MG), a forest carcará (MG), an utanga junction (BA) and one Albatroz-de-Bulk in Angra dos Reis (RJ).
Investigations are commonplace in the national agricultural defense system, as the notification is mandatory. High pathogenicity (H5N1 virus) avianza is a disease of immediate mandatory notification to official animal health defense bodies.

Brazil has already carried out more than 2,500 investigations of suspected aviary flu since May 2023, when there was the first occurrence in AVI, according to the Ministry of Agriculture.
Brazil has confirmed 172 cases of avian influenza since the beginning of monitoring, 167 in wild animals (163 birds and 4 lions), 4 in subsistence creations and only 1 in commercial farm, registered in May in Montenegro (RS).
