The interrogations of the defendants of the coup plot put former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) this week and Minister Alexandre de Moraes, rapporteur of the case in the first class of the STF, face to face for the first time. The former Mottizer will be heard during the statement of testimonials of those accused of integrating the crucial core, responsible for planning the coup attempt plan after the 2022 elections. The hearings will start on Monday (06/09) and occurred in person at the Court’s headquarters throughout the week.
Bolsonaro and Moraes were already in the same room during the complaint trial in March this year, but did not interact. The meeting between the two was also repeated during the online testimonials of the witnesses, heard in recent weeks.
In the interrogation scheduled for this week, however, direct contact between them will be mandatory, as Moraes will lead the questions to the defendants. The former president said he will not “seal” at the time and said he will be “with the truth by his side”, commenting on the subject during a PL woman event in Brasilia last Friday.
In addition to him, the other defendants and their lawyers will be at the same time in the courtroom of the first class of the Court, where the judgments of the coup plot have been taking place. The interrogations will begin with the testimony of Mauro Cid, former Bolsonaro orders, who will be heard first for collaborating through the award-winning plea agreement. Then the other defendants will be heard in alphabetical order:
Alexandre Ramagem, former director of Abin and federal deputy;
Almir Garnier Santos, former Navy Commander;

Anderson Torres, former Minister of Justice and former Secretary of Public Security of the Federal District (DF);
Augusto Heleno, former head of the Institutional Security Office;
Jair Bolsonaro;

Paulo Sérgio Nogueira, former Minister of Defense;
Walter Braga Netto, former minister of the Civil House and Defense, as well as candidate for deputy on the Bolsonaro plate in 2022.
The lines will be broadcast live on TV Justice and the Supreme YouTube channel and will start from 2 pm on Monday. If the interrogations are not completed on the first day, another four sessions were also scheduled to take place at the following dates: 10/06 at 9am; 06/11 at 8am; 06/12 at 9am and 13/6 at 9am.
