California governor Gavin Newsom said the state will file a lawsuit against President Donald Trump for what he described as an illegal, immoral and unconstitutional shipping of the National Guard to deal with stir in the state.
In an interview with MSNBC, Newsom accused the president of.
“Donald Trump has created the conditions you saw on TV tonight,” he told MSNBC Jacob Soboroff on Sunday (8).
“He exacerbated the conditions … since he announced that he would assume the National Guard. We will test this theory with a lawsuit tomorrow,” he concluded.
The governor also criticized Trump’s allegations to restore security through the National Guard. “He said at a tweet that everything is now safe,” said Newsom.
“The guard had not even been sent when he said that. He is simply lying to people,” he added.
Newsom said the federal order violated the established protocols that require coordination with state governors. “They never coordinated with us,” he said.
The governor added that he has worked with the National Guard in logistics, fires recovery and during protests by George Floyd.
“There is a protocol. There is a process. He didn’t care about that. And the worst is that he lied completely,” said the governor.
On social networks, Newsom repeated his appeal for protesters to remain peaceful:
“Los Angeles: They do not bite Trump’s bait. Trump wants chaos and instigated violence. Those who assault police or cause material damage to the risk of being arrested.”
