Consumer Price Index of the Asian country registers a drop for the 4th consecutive month; In the monthly comparison, rate was low of 0.2%
Inflation in China slowed 0.1% compared to May 2024, according to data released on Sunday (8.Jun.2025) by the (national statistics office of the country).
In the monthly comparison, the Chinese consumer price index fell 0.2% compared to April. It is the 4th consecutive month that the fee records.

Annual variation
Compared to May last year, the prices of goods and services in the country’s urban areas remained stable, while rural areas fell 0.4%. According to a 2024 survey of the platform, about 464.8 million Chinese live in rural regions.
Food prices also showed no variation in the period. Consumer goods were 0.5% cheaper and services rose 0.5%.
Prices fall over last month
Compared to April 2025, prices in rural and urban areas fell 0.2%. Food products were also 0.2% cheaper. Consumer goods fell 0.3% and services remained stable.
Negotiations with the USA
Inflation data in China were released 1 day before among authorities in the country with E, Treasury and Commerce Secretaries, respectively, from the United States.
The 2 countries should negotiate a tariff trade agreement. The meeting will be in London, in the United Kingdom, this Monday (9.Jun). The time was not disclosed.
Agreement can accelerate Chinese economy
May results show a trend to reduce Chinese domestic spending, a problem that the government is trying to solve in the last 2 years.
An agreement with the US is expected to alleviate the pressure of the high American tariffs on China. The performance of Chinese producers has fallen abroad in recent months, while local demand has also decreased because of US rates.
