Hundreds of activists set out on Monday after land from the Tunisian capital Tunis to the Egyptian border with the Gaza band to show solidarity with the inhabitants of this Palestinian enclave. About 1,700 activists, including about 200 Algerians, as well as many Moroccans, Libyans or Mauritans traveling on buses and cars, TASR, according to DPA and AFP.

They want to travel – through Libya and Egypt – to the border crossing of Rafah in the hope that they will draw attention to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and protest against the attacks of Israel.

A spokeswoman for the group called Tunisian Coordination of the joint action for Palestine, which However, the peace convoy is organized by AFP that Cairo has not yet given them permission to cross its borders. “We’ll see what happens when we come there,” she added.

According to her, problems are not expected to pass through Libyou, which is tense, but the residents have long supported Palestinians. DPA, in turn, states that the arrivals of some Morocco activists have compiled and moved, for long -term problems on their borders with Algeria.

The path of resilience

The organizers of the convoy with the Arabic name translating as “resilience” called on “all free people around the world” to stand up for the rights of the Palestinians and announce that they would join us along the way. They described their journey as “symbolic” and targeted to “break the blockade” of Gaza. The convoy does not bring humanitarian aid to Gaza, but also doctors travel.

It is supposed to cross several places in Tunisia to move to the neighboring Libya, from there to continue along the Mediterranean coast to Egypt and get to Rafah. This border crossing of Egypt with Gaza is more than 3,000 kilometers away from the Tunisian metropolis, Tunis, explains DPA.

Protests in Egypt

A similar parallel action is held this week in Egypt – propalestine activists from around the world will be gathered. After a meeting in Cairo, they are to move to the city of Aríš at the end of the week and then walk to Rafah about 50 kilometers. On Sunday they want to start a protest at this passage, but it is not yet clear whether the Egyptian authorities will allow it.

In recent days, Gaza has also tried to arrive in the Humanitarian Madleen ships with the help of the local on board, on which there were several known activists, including Greta Thunberg. The Israeli authorities, however, prevented her arrival, and the army there was taken over on Monday night. The Israeli Ministry of Diplomacy subsequently informed on Monday that the ship would transport to the coast and then deport activists to their countries.
