The Colombian authorities work three hypotheses about the reasons for the attack in which the presidential senator and candidate Miguel Uribe Turbay was seriously injured, who remains in a state of “maximum gravity” and with a “reserved” prognosis in a clinic in Bogotá.
This was announced on Sunday by the Minister of Defense, Pedro Sánchez Suárez, in a statement that gave the press, after concluding an extraordinary security council in which President Gustavo Petro participated.
At that meeting “some hypothesis of why this attack” against Uribe Turbay, of the Uribista Democratic Center, right -wing and opposition to the government were evaluated, and “some of them cannot be determined or distorted,” said the minister.
“We could group them into three large groups: if it was directly because they are Miguel Uribe Turbay, or if it was to be a political and everything that goes around their political party or if it is about destabilizing the national government, through attacks on some members who think differently to this government,” said Sánchez Suárez.
