Temperatures reach 39ºC this Monday: more than 30 municipalities in maximum fire that can remain until Wednesday.
More than 30 municipalities two districts of Faro, Portalegre, Santarém, Castelo Branco, Coimbra e Guard Monday is in a maximum danger of fire, the day the temperatures will reach 39ºCaccording to the IPMA.
The Portuguese Institute of Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) foresees for this Monday in mainland Portugal maximum temperatures of 39 degrees in Santarém and Braga, 37 in Leiria and Coimbra, 36 in Vila Real and Castelo Branco, 35 in Porto and Bragança, 34 in Lisbon and Évora and 32 in Braga, Guarda, Beja and Setúbal.
Several municipalities in the district districts have a very high and high danger of fire. According to IPMA calculations, the danger of fire will remain high in some districts At least until Wednesday.
This risk, determined by IPMA, has five levels, ranging from reduced to maximum. Calculations are obtained from air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed and quantity of precipitation in the last 24 hours.
Because of the hot weather, the IPMA put the districts of Évora, Beja, Castelo Branco and Portalegre on yellow warning from 23:57 on Sunday and until 21:00 on Tuesday and Bragança, Guarda and Vila Real from 12:00 today and until 21:00 on Tuesday.
The yellow warning, the least severe of a three scale, is issued whenever there is a risk situation for certain activities dependent on the weather situation.
The IPMA predicts for this Monday on the continent heaven generally slightly cloudy, with periods of more cloudiness in the interior with the possibility of thunder and thunderstorm and temperature climb, except the maximum in the southern region, where a decrease is expected.
Following meteorological forecasting, The Directorate-General for Health (DGS) recommended to the population a regular consumption of water, the use of wide and fresh clothes and the use of sunscreen every two hours.
