Moscow (Reuters)-The fight between Donald Trump and Elon Musk has been triggered for months of intense stress on both sides, and the public battle between US president and billionaire donor needs to stop, Musk’s father told Reuters on Monday.
Trump and Musk began to change insults last week on social media, with Tesla and Spacex’s executive president describing the president’s tax and spending bill as a disgusting abomination.
Asked if he thinks his son made a mistake by engaging in a public discussion with the president, Errol Musk said people sometimes cannot think about the clarity they should “in the heat of the moment.”

“They had five months of intense stress,” Musk told Reuters at a Moscow conference organized by conservative Russian tycoon.
“With all the opposition eliminated and two remaining people in the arena, all they have done was to get rid of everything and now they are trying to get rid of each other – well, that has to stop.”
Asked how this would end, he said, “Ah, it will end with a good grade – very soon.”

Neither the White House nor Musk could be contacted to comment on the issue outside the US normal business hours.
Trump said on Saturday that his relationship with Musk was over and that there would be “serious consequences” if the richest man in the world decided to fund US Democrats who compete against Republicans who vote for tax and spending law.
Musk funded a large part of Trump’s presidential campaign in 2024. Trump appointed Musk to lead an effort to reduce federal workforce and cut spending.
