Piri-Piri Festival returns to the guide with more producers, new experiences and a lot of animation

The municipality of Albufeira announced the second edition of the Piri-Piri Festival, which will take place from July 11 to 13 in the Jardim dos Seidos, in the Guide, next to EB 1,2,3. The event, organized by the municipality with the collaboration of chef Nuno Bergonse, promises to surprise with several news ranging from the gastronomic universe to entertainment.

Highlights include the presence of chills from different parts of the world, tastings of sauces, chocolates and spicy meats, a piri-piri beer created especially for the occasion, contests of Comedy Stand-Up Comedy Spectacles. There will also be handicrafts, thematic tattoos, fire shows and a lot of animation for all ages.

The mayor, José Carlos Rolo, considers the Piri-Piri festival is “an event on the rise”, underlining the growing interest on the part of national and foreign producers. “It is the only one in the country to give this importance to a vegetable product so appreciated among us, such as the chicken Piri-Piri da Guia. And this is combined with a good environment, in a tone of family animation, which contemplates a whole universe within the spicy,” said the mayor, adding to “good expectations about this year’s brave people who dare to enter the competitions or proven products. which will be the base of the festival ”.

Regarding the participation of producers, the informs that this second edition will have 20 mauguetas producers, four more than the previous year, including international producers in the sauces segment. Several varieties of chilli will be presented, such as Jalapeño, Habanero, Cayena, Thai and, of course, the traditional Portuguese Malagueta Pepper. These ingredients serve as the basis for the creation of sauces, chocolates, jams, meats and other innovative products.

The event also includes an environmental zone with activities for children and a vast program for adults and seniors, with traditional games, live music of different styles, itinerant performances along the venue, a maugueth eaten contest and Michele Cascais’s performance with a stand-up comedy show.

The “Mister Chilli” mascot will circulate through the room to challenge visitors, and a fire spat will act at various times in the festival. A tattoo artist will also be present, available to draw chilli or other reasons in the body of visitors.

The event also values ​​local traditions with the presence of artisans from the Cerro do Ouro Educational Center and a Graffiti artist who will hold live murals. The Acro Al-Buera Gymnastics group will also be present with a special action.

According to the organization, there will also be a vending machine of spicy sauces, an exhibitor with dozens of varieties of chilli and a greenhouse with plants, as well as a merchandising board dedicated to the festival.

For sustainability, all glass glasses will be personalized and reusable. To refresh the palates, in addition to the debut of a beer with Piri-Piri, the official beer of the event will be Marafada, produced in the Algarve.

This year’s edition will also feature digital influencer Cristiana Jesus, resident in Albufeira, who, with more than 545,000 followers, will share with the public the environment lived in the Garden of the Senses.

Entry to the festival is free. At the end of the event will be drawn a cabaz composed of themed products exposed over the three days.
