Uribe was hit with two heads on his head and another in his knee on Saturday during a public event in Bogota. Videos recorded at the time of the attack show that he was speaking when the shots were heard.
Authorities said they had seized a minor under 14, who would be responsible for the shots, but said they were looking for the mastermind of the crime.
In two publications at dawn, through her personal Instagram account, Uribe’s wife indicated that her husband’s situation is serious and called for support and prayers from her followers. In one of the publications, she wrote: “I ask, with all my heart, that it does not stop praying. Miguel needs a miracle.”

Grandson of former President Julio César Turbay, Uribe gained space among the right-hand leaders in Colombia, despite his young age-39 years. Graduated in law and a master’s degree from Harvard, he is a staunch critic of President Gustavo Petro and the left in general.
As a senator for the Democratic Center Party, he participated in several congress debates against guerrillas and against the policy of the current head of state to negotiate peace with them. It is also one of the main critics of the social reforms promoted by the agent.
At the age of four, Uribe lost her mother, journalist Diana Turbay, kidnapped in a drug trafficker trap Pablo Escobar. During a confused rescue operation, Diana was dead. The case was inspired by the novel “News of a Kidnapping” by the Nobel Prize winner Gabriel García Márquez – who includes a mention of little Michael during the anguishing five -month waiting between kidnapping and death.

Colombian Defense Minister Pedro Sánchez said on Sunday that there are several hypotheses under investigation: one was that it was a message against the Democratic Center party, led by the influential former president Álvaro Uribe (2002-2010). Another is that it is an attempt to “destabilize” the Petro government, whom sectors of the right accuse of inciting hatred against opposition.
