The clergymen could enter any hospital department without the patient’s consent without invitation. This is claimed by the Member of the National Council (NR) of the Slovak Republic Jana Bittó Cigániková (SaS) in response to the approved change to apply from July. According to her, this is a serious disturbance of privacy.
“The law gives a new right to the spiritual, not the patient. This is a fundamental problem. If There was the only sentence that entry is only possible for the explicit request of the patient, I would easily support him. However, this is the imposition and violation of privacy, ” Bittó Cigániková said that the change was added to the law as an amendment shortly before the vote and practically without discussion. According to her, the change ignores the patient’s consent, browses the right to privacy and creates a dangerous precedent.
The new rules in the Act on Health Care Providers were approved by MPs of the National Council of the Slovak Republic last week as an amendment to the amendment to the Education Act. They discussed it in accelerated mode. Newly, the Provider will be obliged to allow the person in charge to carry out the clergy activity to the hospital unless its presence does not interfere with the provision of care. In the event of a breach of the obligation, the Ministry of Health will be able to impose a fine of up to EUR 500 to the provider.
The proposal was justified by ensuring that the patient’s right to spiritual care in institutional health care facilities. With regard to the right to freedom of religion, according to the petitioners, it is necessary to “He was allowed to enter the clergymen authorized to enter the institutional healthcare facilities”.
