Campaign’s objective is to increase the number of vaccinations, leading the immunizer to places of great circulation of people

From this Monday (9), the city of It begins a new influenza vaccination campaign. The action will be carried out in several public transport stations and at Shopping Butantã, aiming to serve the entire population from 6 months of age. Vaccination will continue until June 27, Monday to Friday, except for the 19th and 20th. Vaccination sites include several stations like Luz, Engineer Goulart, Sao Miguel, Itaim Paulista, Corinthians-Itaquera, Perus and Pirituba, all from 8:30 am to 5 pm. In addition, Pinheiros da Line 9-Esmeralda station will also be available at the same time. The Vila Prudente subway will operate from 9am to 4pm, but will not have vaccination on June 11 and 12.

Bus terminals will also be part of the campaign. The Tietê Bus Terminal and the Sacomã Bus Terminal will be open from 9am to 4pm and 8am to 4pm, respectively. The Basic Health Units (UBSS) will also be available for vaccination, from Monday to Friday, from 7am to 7pm. By June 3, approximately 1.9 million doses had already been applied, resulting in a 37.3% coverage among priority groups.

The Ministry of Health set an ambitious goal of vaccinating 90% of the priority population, representing about 2.9 million people in São Paulo. However, experts have expressed concern about low adherence to the vaccine, especially in a scenario of cases of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SRAG) caused by influenza A virus and respiratory sincial virus (VSR). In 2025, nearly 84,000 SRAG cases were recorded, with 73.4% of influenza A virus -related deaths from this scenario, vaccination becomes essential to protect the most vulnerable groups such as the elderly, children and pregnant women, as well as contributing to the interruption of virus transmission in the community.
