Railway strikes stop train transport in the Netherlands for Tuesday. The trade unionists insist on higher salaries and better work conditions, so far without agreement.
On Tuesday, virtually all passenger train transport in the Netherlands will be shut down on Tuesday, for the second time in less than a week. This was announced on Monday by the NS State Railway Company, TASR writes based on DPA report.
The trade union of the VVMC railwaymen declared a strike in the south of the country in the provinces of southern Holland, Zealand and the western part of Northern Brabant. However, the NS announced that it decided to shut down virtually the entire rail network, as it was considered impractical in other areas.
A similar outage occurred on Friday, when the trade unions announced a strike in the middle of the country, recalls DPA.
Tuesday’s strike will also be seriously affected by international connections, including night trains. However, there will be a shuttle service between the Amsterdam Main Railway Station and the Schipol airport.
NS added that some long -distance connections between Brussels and Amsterdam and between Cologne and Amsterdam will be operating. The trade unionists from the VVMC claim that their interviews with the management of the NS on improving working conditions and higher wages have not yet produced any results.
