The former Minister of Justice testifies to the first class of the (Federal Supreme Court) on Monday (9) as defendant in the process of the 2022 coup plot.
Torres will be the third defendant to testify, after the former Assistant of Orders of (), who signed an agreement from, and the Federal Deputy (PL-RJ).
In January 2023, during a search and seizure operation at the former minister’s house after the undemocratic acts that depreciated the headquarters of the three powers in Brasilia, the draft of a decree was found to establish a state of defense and reversal of the electoral outcome.
The document would serve the scammer purposes to prevent the president’s inauguration (), who defeated Bolsonaro in the 2022 elections.

Anderson Torres, 49, was the Bolsonaro government minister of justice between March 2021 and December 2022. With the inauguration of Lula, the delegate of becoming public security secretary in the Federal District government.
He had already held the same secretary post before becoming a minister and was in the Ibaneis Rocha (MDB) management on undemocratic acts on January 8, 2023. He was dismissed and was arrested for four months by decision of the STF minister on charges of omission in the attacks.

Indictment
Torres is defendant within the coup attempt, which includes Bolsonaro. The group is that they would be responsible for managing actions of the coup articulation, and the about the electoral process, with illegal use of the structure of (Brazilian Intelligence Agency).
These are the defendants being heard by the STF this week. The former Justice Minister is accused of drafting the coup draft discussed by the nucleus, of acting to enable the operation of the Federal Highway Police (PRF) in northeastern states to prevent favorable voters from Lula from reaching the ballot box, and to omit in relation to procedures to ensure safety in Brasilia during attacks on January 8.
The central nucleus is accused of armed criminal organization, attempted violent abolition of the Democratic Rule of Law, coup, damage qualified by violence and serious threat against public assets and deterioration of listed heritage. Added, maximum penalties may exceed 40 years in prison.
Defense
Anderson Torres’s defense denies that he participated in a coup plan and says the draft found in his house would be discarded. In March, the defense called the complaint (Attorney General’s Office) irresponsible.
Torres’ lawyers maintain that there is no evidence that built the accusations against him and says the former minister is being sued only for integrating the Bolsonaro government.
