The Governia Gavin News Governor asked the court to block the deployment of US soldiers in the streets of Los Angeles. President Donald Trump sent members of the National Guard and Marine Corps to the city to suppress protests against the immigration authorities. According to the AFP report, TASR reports this.

“The deployment of trained soldiers in the streets is unprecedented and threatens the very essence of our democracy. Donald Trump behaves like a bully, not as a president.

Protests in Los Angeles and its surroundings broke out after members of the immigration and customs office (Ice) arrested dozens of people for alleged violations of the immigration law. The White House described these raids as “common deportation operations”.

In response to the protests, Trump ordered the posting of 2000 members of the National Guard, and at night on Tuesday he decided to deploy another two thousand and about 700 naval infantry members. However, representatives of the State of California claim that these steps are an exaggerated response to mostly peaceful demonstrations. The media also informed about several cases when the protests grew into violence.

Mayor Los Angeles Karen Bass said more than 100 people were detained on Monday, but most of their participants do not commit violence. However, Trump claims that the public order in Los Angeles is grossly disrupted by paid rebels. Both News and Bass described these claims as considerably exaggerated.

In addition, the Governor of California accused Trump of sending soldiers to Los Angeles to deliberately escalate the situation for political reasons. However, the President advocates his decision. “If we didn’t get into it, Los Angeles would be burned … The police couldn’t handle it,” Trump said on Tuesday, saying “a few bad people” ended up in custody.

The deployment of soldiers in a civilian environment in the US is an extremely unusual measure, AFP said. According to the law, soldiers must not be carried out by police against US citizens on US soil. In certain circumstances, this is all the case with another law, but it is not clear whether Trump plans to appeal to it, AP added.
