Mayor of Kiev Vitaly Klitschko announced on Tuesday in the early morning that Russia is doing business a “massive” drone attack on the Ukrainian metropolis of Kiev. According to AFP, Ukrainian officials reported that the target of the drone attack was also a maternity hospital and a medical facility in Odessa, where they report at least one victim and four injured, writes TASR.
“Stay in shelters! A massive attack on the capital continues,” Klitschko said on the telegram platform.
Russian attacks at night also hit the maternity hospital, medical facility and residential buildings in the port city of Odessa. The Oleh Kiper governor said that patients and medical staff were evacuated. According to the initial information, the attacks did not claim any victims, but the governor subsequently informed about one victim.
“Residential buildings in Odessa were destroyed and damaged. A 50 -year -old man was killed,” Kiper said, adding that four people were injured in Russian attacks.
Klitschko said on the telegram that after midnight the medical staff were called to four areas of Kiev. According to the army, the attacks continue and urged people to hide. Reuters notes that the full range of the attack is not yet known.
“The enemy drones are attacking several parts of the city at the same time,” wrote the head of the city’s military administration Tymur Tkačenko on the telegram. “The residential buildings and fires have been damaged. The rescuers intervene in places of attacks,” he said.
Eyewitnesses for Reuters said there were loud explosions. AFP informs that several buildings and cars across Kiev engulfed a fire and near one of the schools hit the wreckage of the drone. No victims have been reported so far.
Klitschko later announced on the telegram that in addition to drones they were heading for Kiev and missiles.
According to Reuters, the night attack follows after Russia has so far made the biggest drone attack during a more than three years of war in Ukraine on Monday. Moscow attacked up to 479 drones and Reuters claims that Russia has intensified its attacks in Ukraine as a retaliation for a recent Ukrainian attack on the air bases deep in Russia.
