At the beginning of the interrogation of General Augusto Heleno, former chief of (Institutional Security Office), the minister joked with a military lawyer about lunchtime.
He was called to the central chair of the room of the First Class of (Supreme Federal Court) shortly before 11:30 am. The lawyer asked for the word and the rapporteur replied that the lunch time would still be ahead.
“Excellence, just by order here. As you already well warned you …” began lawyer Matheus Milanez.
“Doctor, lunchtime is still far away. Let’s go,” replied Moraes.
“Like you, I took a reinforced brunch. So you, rest assured,” Milanez said.
At the end of Monday’s session (9), the lawyer asked Moraes to postpone the start of this Tuesday (10) session in one hour so that they could dinner with peace of mind and have time until the return to court.
“I used the example of the Lord and took a reinforced brunch this morning, there is no concern,” he said.
The lawyer intervened in the minister’s speech to inform that Heleno would partially use constitutional law to silence and only respond to the defense’s own questions.
Heleno is the third interrogated of the day and the fourth of this phase of the process against the central core of the 2022 coup plot.
On Monday, Moraes responded to Milanez that if they followed the scheduled times, it would be possible to end the stage later this Tuesday and this would release the lawyer,
“It’s almost 8 pm at night. The audience tomorrow starts at 9am. Considering that we have to arrive half an hour before, we just came in a car and I still need to take the general home, I need to go to my house. I minimally I want to dinner, excellence, I just had breakfast almost,” said the lawyer.
Moraes answered with a “imagine me” to the statement that the lawyer had not had lunch.
“Let’s see if we end tomorrow. Then you have Wednesday to take a beautiful brunch, Thursday a dinner, which is Valentine’s Day, Friday is St. Anthony’s day and you celebrate in a quemese. If we start to delay, we don’t end, doctor,” Moraes said.
