Governor of Goiás speaks in return to the discretionary system to avoid “embarrassment” to the President
The governor of Goiás, (União Brasil-GO), said trusting in strong presidentialism to contain the powers of the legislature. “Today do you have a pix -powered parliament? This does not exist“, Declared on Monday (9.jun.2025), during an interview with the program “Roda Viva”as well TV Culture.
The presidential candidate said he wants to end virtual judgments in Congress.
He defended the return to the previous model of amendments when they were not impositive. “If you don’t have the discretionary budget money, you will govern how? ”, stated.
Regarding the possibility of convincing influential congressional leaders, such as (Brazil-AP Union) or (Republicans-PB), giving up its resources, argued that the system needs to respect constitutional logic.
“If you want to move to parliamentarism, that’s fine, make the appointment and you’re done, it’s over. There is no figure of the president. The Prime Minister will play (…) now in presidentialism,”Said the governor.
According to Caiado, the amendments should serve to comply with the government plan, not for political negotiations.
“There is no discretionary that the president cannot use. So what do you have minister? You don’t need minister. I have no money. Decorative figure”He said.
He states that amendments cannot be negotiated to the point of “Cause embarrassment” to the President of the Republic.
