A 49-year-old Spanish citizen was arrested on Tuesday (10/6) at Galeão International Airport, in the North Zone of Rio de Janeiro, by agents of the Federal Police. He was sought by Spain’s court for the crime of estelionato and was named in the Interpol Red Diffusion list.

According to the Spanish authorities, the man is accused of a blow committed in 2019, when he would have received the payment of a commercial transaction without delivering the good negotiated to the victim. The inclusion in the Interpol list occurred after an international arrest warrant issued.

The capture was carried out by police from the PF International Cooperation Center in Rio de Janeiro (NCI/Interpol), with support from the PF Special Police Station at Galeão Airport (Deain). Preventive arrest was authorized by the Federal Supreme Court for extradition.

According to the PF, after the legal procedures, the prisoner will be taken to the Fluminense prison system, where he will await the extradition process to serve sentence in Spain.
