The Spanish corridor Iván Romeo became the new leader of the 77th edition of the after winning in his third stage, of 207.2 kilometers, between the French towns of Brioude and Charantonnay.
Romeo ended with a time of 4:34:10 and won a 14 second advantage over the Colombian Harold Tejada (XDS Astana), second, and the Frenchman Louis Barré (Intemrché – Wanty), which ended in third position.
The Valladolid, during much of the stage, was part of a group of 13 cyclists, among which were the Dutch Mathieu van der Poel (Alpecin-Deceuninck), the German Florian Lipowitz (Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe), or Harold Tejada himself (XDS Astana), who escaped from the squad and obtained advantages of 1:45 minutes.
“It has been crazy, because we had planned it since the beginning of the week. The team has given me confidence and tranquility. The truth is that I do not even know what I have done,” said the young 21 -year -old cyclist, who achieved the greatest achievement of his career. “For two weeks, in Sierra Nevada, we were planning such a stage. It is incredible, a great reward for all the effort. Sometimes cycling is not good, but today it has more than paid me. I am very happy,” at the end of the third stage of this exciting Dauphiné.
