Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD) thinks of the families of the mass murder victims in Graz, Austria. According to him, it is difficult to imagine what they are experiencing. He said it on a social network with the fact that The world and especially Europe have undressed. “The tragedy in Austria should lead us to the reflection of whether we leave Europe to free -thinking and fool, or we will return to honest traditions and values,” the Prime Minister said.
The Association of Towns and Municipalities of Slovakia (ZMOS) with sorrow and deep concern received a shooting reportwhich occurred on Tuesday at a school in Graz, Austria. The violent act, which, according to available information, claimed the lives of at least ten people, including students, educators and the perpetrator himself, hit us all painfully. TASR informed the Central Director of the Office Zuzana Špačeková.
“On behalf of Slovak local local governments, we express our sincere condolences to the families of the victims, the injured and the whole Austrian public. This event is a tragedy not only for school, city or state, but also for the whole of Europe, which faces new challenges in the field of safety, mental health and protection of children and young people,” said ZMOS chairman Jozef Božik.
According to him, the attack is a warning signal that violence can affect any community no matter how safe it may seem. In this context, ZMOS draws attention to the need for systemic financing of school psychologists, social educators, prevenists and community workers.
Božik also appeals to better coordination between state, regional and local authorities in the field of crisis planning, ensuring the school areas, as well as education of employees in education and self -government in the field of prevention and responses to emergency events. “We are ready to offer our professional capacities, self -government experience and create space for joint dialogue, at home and at the level of international cooperation on how to reduce the risk of similar tragedies,” he said.
The perpetrator of the shooting at the Graz Graz is a 21-year-old Austrian, a former student who did not finish the school. The victims are ten. The eleventh victim is the perpetrator himself who, after shooting, committed suicide in the toilet. In hospitals in Graz they treated 12 injured, the condition of several of them is serious.
