Hungary shall bring a lawsuit against the Court of Justice of the European Union (SDEU) in the case of a verdict to impose a fine of one million euros per day for non -compliance with asylum rules. According to telex.hu server, this was announced on Wednesday by Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, György Bakoni’s internal security, TASR reports in Budapest.

Bacondi told TV2 commercial television that the European Union has initiated proceedings against Hungary in several cases relating to refugees, including a case in which the country was fined EUR 1 million a day. He added that the EU wanted to ensure that migrants could submit their asylum applications in Hungary and not in a country other than Serbia. In his words, the government has the only option in this case, which is an action against the EU court through an international law firm.

Last June, SDEU imposed a lump sum of EUR 200 million and one million euros for each day of delay in mid -June, because in 2020 it did not make a decision to comply with international procedures for asylum seekers.

At the end of August, Hungary did not comply with the first deadline for payment of the fine, which forced the EU executive to send a second application for payment with a deadline by 17 September. However, this was also ignored by the Hungarian government. Therefore, the EC activated the so -called “compensation procedure” against Budapest and deducts the amount of the fine from the EU funds allocated to Hungary.

Since the issuance of the decision of SDEU, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has escalated his rhetoric against the EU. He described the fine as outrageous and claimed that his country should receive two billion euros for the protection of its borders since 2015.
