In the North Zone of, a Civil Police operation, in collaboration with the Public Prosecution Service, resulted in the army military man’s detention, Luan Lucas France of the Nascimento, the Army Guard Battalion, at the Parada de Lucas. The action was directed against the third pure command in the Israel Complex, and aimed to fulfill 70 arrest warrants. The targets were traffickers associated with Álvaro Malachi, known as Peixão, one of the most sought after criminals in the state. During the operation, a shooting between traffickers and police left two people injured in collectives near the scene.
The clashes occurred in two of the city’s main expressways, Avenida Brasil and the Red Line. The shooting caused panic among passengers, who threw themselves on the vehicle floor, while drivers stopped their cars for protection. In response to the risk situation, the authorities chose to partially ban these ways. The scenes of violence quickly gained prominence in the media, both national and international.
In 2024, a similar operation in the Israel complex resulted in six shot people, of which two could not resist the injuries. The police continue to search for Peixão, who remains at large. He is known for his violent performance and has recently been responsible for the destruction of a leisure space in the North Zone, nicknamed the “Resort of the Trafficker”. The site, which included a lake with fish, barbecue, pool and gym, was used for organized crime meetings.
