A new state support will allow, in June, to exchange old appliances for energetically models more efficient. It is expected that the program will be funded with a funds of up to 100,000,000 euros, and, according to the government, will be attributed by order of application. As soon as the ceiling end, the incentive ends.
Without an official notice published, everything points out that the applications open shortly after the holiday of June 10. According to the Business Journal, previous experiences show that similar funds run out in a few days. Anyone who has old fridge, arches or machines should already prepare documentation.
Experts recall: A well -made exchange can save up to 140 euros a year on the light bill, which increases in the most numerous families.
What is this new incentive anyway?
It is expected that this new support, informally designated as E -lar, be launched by the Environmental Fund with funds from the recovery and resilience plan. The purpose of the incentive is to appeal to the replacement of large low energy efficiency appliances with class A or higher appliances.
According to the source, the new support will be able to cover up to three equipment per family. Each will correspond to 50 % of the value of the new device (VAT included), up to a maximum of 450 euros per unit and 1 200 euros per aggregate. These limits still await confirmation in the official notice.
Eligibility criteria
The incentive will be valid only for residents in mainland Portugal. Among the required documents will be the energy invoice on behalf of the applicant and proof of old equipment (label or photography). An initial phase of priority applications for families with income up to 36 600 euros per year in the first ten days is also foreseen.
After this period, a general phase will be opened for all aggregates, maintaining support until the total endowment is exhausted.
How to ask for step by step
The order will be made online on the Environmental Fund website. The process should include:
• Forming of the form with NIF, IBAN and address.
• Ancient appliance photography uploaded with serial number.
• Budget submission or proof of purchase intention in an adherent store.
The digital valley will be sent by email. The candidate will have 30 days to make the purchase and load the final invoice.

List of equipment covered
The list includes refrigerators, berries, combined, washing machines or dishes, and hot pump dryers, according to the above source. Appliances like microwave or televisions are left out, at least at this stage.
Several national retail chains and online stores with warehouse in Portugal joined the program. These stores are committed to collecting and recycling old equipment at no additional costs.
Real benefits in the invoice
Adene studies point to significant savings. A F -class frigor consumes about 380 kWh/year, while a class A model consumes 150 kWh. The difference can represent 55 euros per year.
In washing machines, savings can reach 35 euros thanks to the efficiency in the use of hot water. According to the same source, in total, the investment recovers in about four years, with direct impact on the electricity bill and carbon footprint.
Dates to record on the calendar
• June 11-19 – Priority phase (yields up to 36 600 euros)
• From June 20 – general phase open to all
• Until December 31-Date-limitation to submit invoices and complete the process, except for previous exhaustion of the support
By 2023, a similar program saw 20,000,000 euros used in valleys in the first 72 hours. Everything points to a similar pace this year.
Expected impact
Estimates, based on previous incentives, a 24 GWh/year savings in electrical consumption and the creation of about 1 300 indirect jobs in the recycling and logistics sector. If success is repeated, it is likely to launch a new phase of the program as early as 2026.
