They need to make a precise calculation: not missing the wave while they cannot be carried away by the euphoria that presses executives by implementing technology. Productivity and agility gains in the process are balanced with implementation and safety costs.
“Since the term is in ‘hype’, there is a race to make use. We need to use more in the context of experimentation, test small before climbing,” said Caixa executive director Pedro Pedrosa, in a panel of the Febraban Tech event.
Although it is clear, in its view, that the Generative AI will be part of the business strategy, Pedrosa points out that, in the market, an increase in the number of project dropouts involving technology is already observed.

One reason for this is the cost related to project maintenance – which, in technology, is called FINOPS and encompasses costs such as cloud processing. “Many times the project is climbing and we realize that it is too big to be abandoned. What we have done is to start carefully and project well where it will go.”
For Banco do Brasil () Digital Business and Technology Vice President of Digital Business and Technology, “the cost is still very high”, and executives wonders “it’s for all that”. “I think the market will evaluate this more, think a little more about,” he says.
Executive evaluation, however, is that it is no longer seen as a competitive gain in the financial industry: “What we see today is that if it is not using for some specific cases, it is already behind,” said Cio and Executive Director of Bradesco (), Edilson Reis.

According to him, 80% of the institutions are already using IA in their operations and 11% efficiency gains are already observed. Hence, the expectation is only increased.
Turbinated by the Generative AI, Biadco’s virtual assistant Bia, led to the resolution of interactions at 85% or 90%, but Reis points out that the projects in the bench are scaled “foot on the floor”. “We realized with Bia things that, if they had climbed, would be problems,” he says.
One of the risks on the table is security and fraud, which have been following the speed of evolution of the Generative AI at the same pace. “We talk about fraud, Deepfake, but today there are digital clones used for the crime that allow the fraudster to explore much more easier,” says Cio do Santander Brasil (), Richard Flavio da Silva.
